Coleman is a native of Blackpool Lancashire. She was educated at Arnold School in Blackpool. In her time as headgirl, she scored straight A marks in her A Levels. When discussing her Emmerdale appearance Coleman acknowledged she was regretting not going to the university. Coleman when she was still at the high school system, was part of a theatrical company called In Yer Space. They performed the play Crystal Clear for the Edinburgh Festival. Apart from being awarded a prize for acting skills, the show she performed was well received. Coleman was offered the role of Jasmine Thomas at Emmerdale while auditioning in drama schools in 2005. Coleman received two nominations for Awards in the year 2007. The British Soap Awards nominated her for the title of best newcomer. The National Television Awards, she was also nominated best newcomer with the highest popularity. In 2009, she was awarded nominations for two categories including Best Actress-Sexiest Female as well as Best Dramatic Performance. Coleman got a nomination in the category of Best Actress from the TV Choice Awards. Steven Moffat announced at a Doctor Who press conference on 21 March that Coleman, who had replaced Karen Gillan as the companion of the Doctor after Arthur Darvill left the series and was to play the role with Matt Smith. Moffat said that he chose Coleman to play the role of companion because she could be the best companion for Smith. Also, Moffat noted that she was more talkative than Smith. The first role she played on TV earned her two Daytime Emmy nominations, and helped her develop her love for music. Eva is not just acting, but she's also a businesswoman and philanthropist. Eva is married three times with a daughter by her second spouse.
