Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28, 1967. Roberts is the fourth Roberts generation to reside in Atlanta starting with her grandfather who was a farmer, John Pendleton Roberts. Early in his life the father of her mother became obsessed with theater. When he was studying at Emory University, he performed in several productions in Atlanta. When he was stationed in Biloxi Mississippi, he was inducted into the airforce in 1953. Betty Lou Bredemus was part of the show as well. Eric Anthony was their first born. They got married in the year. Walter went to Tulane University at New Orleans, Louisiana in 1957 after the couple left the Air Force of the United States. Walter was employed as a technician by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to assist on the stage of the show Bum Bum and His Buddies in Decatur Georgia. Walter as well as Betty Lou financed their own production of a Sunday morning show for children, Bum Bum and His Buddies. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou established their own organization called the Actors and Writers Workshop. It ran for six years. In 1965, they welcomed two more children into their lives: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
